New Tyres (again!)

OK, it's that time of year again. I've had two punctures a few weeks apart in my rear Conti Road Attack, which is horribly square anyway. Although the front doesn't look too worn I think it's best to replace the pair. They've lasted well enough and have provided very good consistent grip, but I'm not sure they're a good winter tyre.

My riding is rain and shine, either from Huntingdon to London and back or other places. Mostly main roads in the wet and miserable, but if it's sunny I'll often take the back roads. I'm a reasonably rapid and confident rider, and I want a tyre that will outperform me while providing decent life as I do high mileages. Must also be reliable when 2-up and provide feedback before letting go.

Oh, and I'm doing a blast to Istanbul and back soon, so I'm hoping they'll will be good for that too.

Sounds like we do similar riding ... Z6 is the way forward

Avon Storm get a good write up,but it'll need to be a bloody good tyre to be any better than a Road 02.

Pilot Road 2s get my vote, IMHO it would need to be something pretty special to make me change to anything else now.

Another vote here for the pilot road 2 £195 a pair fitted to loose wheels.

Have the Michelin Pilot Road 2 riders tried Conti Road Attacks? I found these, designed together with BMW for the 1200, better than older Battleaxe, in all weathers. I have no experience on the other tyres. I will be looking for a replacement rear Conti soon, front is still good.

Storm ST does it for me.

Great wet weather grip and good alround performance on the GS did not start to square untill about 4.5k on the first set

If you get a puncture and still have 5mm of tread left they replace the tyre FREE.

As they just have on my rear Storm ST after 500 miles

I find the RA to be completely lacking confidence. During summer in dry conditions I had not problem powersliding the rear RA at will, and in wet they felt to me like riding on ice. Before I bought the S I had a FJR1300, and I had exactly the same experience.

The PR2 are total opposite. Complete confidence, wet or dry. Still possibly to slide the rear when being really hamfisted, but very grippy. However, at extreme lean angles they get a bit twitchy nervous.

I am going back to full sports tires like the M3, MPP2CT or Diablo Corsa III when these are gone. Maybe I'll try the Qualifier RR next.

diablo corsa 111`s .after 2 sets still can`t fault them even after doing some trackdays they are still rather good for the road

Ian, would you happen to have tried the Supercorsa Pro too? If so, how do they do on public roads?

yes i have them on the 250 and rsv and ktm and they are fine just warm they for the first couple of corners and the grips is great but i do ride hardish but smoothly and they suit me fine but don`t get caught in the rain ,not many groves to clear the water.

Had Metzeler M1 and Z6 on the BCR so far, but decided to order Pilot Road 2 this time.
Should be getting them fitted next week.

I have them fitted to the R-1 and have done around 2,200 miles so far, with little wear evident.
