R1100S final drive help needed
Can someone from this wonderful posse possibly remove the bolt securing the speedo sensor and see if the hole goes through to the final drive or if it is a blind hole? Many thanks. As you might guess, the bolt has snapped on mine and I'm wondering if I can drill (carefully) all the way through

Hi Dave, the hole is blind, it's 12mm deep.
Good luck, Rob.
Good luck, Rob.

Dave, get yourself some left hand drill bits, you can get a combined left hand drill and screw extractor set from Amazon quite reasonably priced, start small and work up, you may find once the drill warms it up it will come out as the drill cuts in, used them successfully on Aero engines in the past.
Good luck, Al.
Good luck, Al.

Re: R1100S final drive help needed
Thanks Al. I have thought about that. There's a small stub left and I can get a nut connector on which will give me a guide for a 4.2 tapping drill - there's VERY little play between nut and drill and I can get a 4.2 cobalt drill as the bolt is stainless - my fault entirely this episode . It would be easier if the hole went straight through but a stub drill and tap would also seem like it would work. I'll try a few things on scrap bolts to see which will work - and then cross my fingers
