R1100S Silencer wanted
Noticed the exhaust note has changed on my R1100S.
Had a little look and notice that the pipe entering the can is fracturing at the join.
Guess I could maybe try to fix it with exhaust cement?
But if anyone happens to have a spare silencer knocking around I might be interested - happy with either a standard or aftermarket can.
Cheers.....

I've had two fail on mine in 15 or is it 16 years... one like you describe , the other fractured completely while riding the bike , successful repair would be quite difficult I think.

I have just bought a replacement silencer (Cheers Feralworks)
Was thinking of having the original one repaired - I have a friend who is pretty handy at welding.
Just wondered, Nab 301, if you think a weld repair would be viable?

Short answer is no, or rather long term successful repair is no . I think as mentioned by brighter people than me on here, it's a mix of mild steel and stainless pipes plus add carbon contamination = poor weld ? Found these threads below
Well documented repair in his thread ,

This is an R12 repair

Re: R1100S Silencer wanted
Ahhhhhhh....
OK
Looks like the original exhaust on the R1100S is doomed to long term failure?
I've done a bit of a search online for aftermarket exhausts, but have drawn a blank.
Maybe they're not being made anymore?
Wonder what solutions people are finding, other than buying a brand new original exhaust, which i guess would cost a small fortune?

I'm sure someone from this parish bought a Laser direct from Holland. I believe they had to wait a while for delivery but it wasn't that expensive (but I may be wrong on this as I usually am)

Re: R1100S Silencer wanted
I checked on the Laser website & it looks like they do still sell a silencer for the R1100S, but no photo & costs almost 600 Euros.
I think I might go the route of looking for a second hand aftermarket silencer.
Soooooooooooooo..........
If anyone has an aftermarket silencer for a R1100S I'd be interested.
Cheers....

Cheers John,
Kendal is just 20 miles away & would have been really handy.
However I checked & double checked their website & they don't seem to do a silencer for the R1100S.
Am I missing something?

You would just have to buy a generic can with the right inlet diameter and length for the 11s and make up your own brackets or cut off the ones on the original pipes. But, you can get a lot of fabrication done for the money you save on their prices.

Re: R1100S Silencer wanted
I think I have a pair of cans, with brackets which fit instead of OEM cans. Black carbon-fibre if memory serves.
Will have a search in the "garage of hidden treasures" this evening.
Will take some pics.
