Hi there,
what is involved in the 6000mile service and how much should it cost from a main dealer.... do I have to go there as my boxer cup is only two years old?? Or could I do it myself??
Thanks

Dead simple, everything is in the owners manual. You don't need to go to a main dealeer - that is your choice, and as your 2 year warranty has expired why bother? Some may say that the bike will sell for more with a FSH but who buys a bike to sell it? I bought ours to ride them. You can bet that if you ever part ex the bike the dealer will give you a crap price for it with or without a FSH.

Pretty easy.
Valve clearance
Oils - change
Brake fluid - bleed/change
bit of lubing here and there
throttle bodies synch
clean calipers
check electrolyte levels in battery
check for play in paralever bearing at bevel box end.
um .... and whatever else it says in the manual
I did the 12000 mile service on my first S having never touched bike mechanics before. Did all subsequent maintenance to 24,000 and have just completed half the 24k service on the current S.

Never knew it was only a two year warranty... but now you come to mention it you might be right. I have never set throttle boddies up before, but i have changed oil etc I take it is failry easy. I have got a manual on a cdrom at home I dig it out when i get back. Thanks folks.

Just had mine into John Clark (Dundee) for first 6000m service - not sure if valve clearances were included but there were a couple of recall notices on the bike (to be done when time permits)
Not sure if the recalls are for all R1100s or just the BCRs - an internet search might reveal the extent.
Or - go in to a dealer and ask if there are recalls?

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........
