2 German tanks....

Post by milleplod »

En route to Spain through northern France, I found this parked in a layby. Think they were just having a minute, as there were no facilities there whatsoever! :D

I'd like to think these both fall into the category of 'Function over form'. :)

Oi stop takin the P*ss. Check the figures: the ST has the same all up wieght as and R1100s and has 12 more horses and a balance shaft so its smoother and revs much more freely and therefore is quicker - and by the way having had both models the 1100s would not win any beauty contests either. Oh and I get better MPG from the 1200 y abot 10mpg. So yah boo and sucks.

As far as looks are concerned I don't disagree - But you appreciate the bl**dy great headlamp of the ST on a dark night

I beg to differ! :P

I do have to confess that I really like the look of the 12ST. If I was going to buy a sports tourer that's what I'd get.

I think it's well-documented on this forum, that the ST is an overlooked model, that fits the "sports-tourer" slot - very well.

(You have to admit thought- it is the ginger-haired step-child in the BMW family........ )

It's actually less-shonky than the VFR 800 to be honest........

The guys in our club seem to have gone for the new R1200RS - we have two in the club already and third on order and we only have 30 members

I have discarded the headlamp cowel which came with the bike - why hide your light under a bushel.
