Boxer cup race bike

Post by scroot »

Hi All , I have just purchased a original boxer cup race bike from 2002 era. Does anybody know how to get its history?
Also it has been converted for road use i.e., speedo, indicators and lights. I have the original race body work and various carbon bits, am I best to leave in road trim or convert back to original race bike??
Anybody have any idea of value? :)

So after checking on "Mitch" link you should be able to tell if it's a real race bike or a copy.

I could be wrong, but if you have bought it already, and the first question is "how much is it worth?".........

It reads like you bought it to turn around?

Ex race bikes took a hammering, I believe.

Can't think who would want one.

And ran with the minimum amount of oil to save weight? personally I would use it as a road bike

Yes, I was wondering the same - especially with the question about whether to keep it in track trim or road trim. I'd say it depends on what you're going to use it for!

If you are looking to sell though I don't think many people would want it as a pure track bike so road bike would be more sensible (and give you a wider audience to sell to), but as Al says, these took a hammering and were often run at the bare minimum oil level which further accelerated the wear.

You could probably do well selling the track bodywork - I would have been interested but in the last month have just bought an entire set of road bodywork to convert to track use! I don't think you'll get a premium for the bike itself though, and second hand prices for the 1100S are low to begin with.

Show us some photos. I can be tempted by the race bodywork and other bits.

If you bought for your own pleasure, then it's up to you. If you got as a investment, then it needs to be race trim. For my part, if I want to invest, I'd buy land or shares. Bikes and cars are to be enjoyed.
