FLASH 19-23 June 2015

Post by Gromit »

Been mulling this over for some time now, but have decided it's been such a long time (2008 was the last I think) since I did a trip down to Melle for a FLASH biking weekend it's about time I went again.

For those who might be interested, the proposed time of year would be mid-late June (ie this time next year) as this is when the weather seems relatively stable, and outside school holidays means ferry prices are more reasonable too.

If there's enough interest over the next few days, I'll get in touch with Tony and set the ball rolling.

Thanks all. :)

Received email from Tony this morning and we are pencilled in for 19-23 June

To keep those who've pm'd me informed en-masse, I've emailed Tony that we'd like to book a weekend for June next year, so will hopefully be announcing a confirmed date fairly soon.

Numbers are obviously limited (I think it's 12 or 13) so if we're over-subscribed there may have to be a Subs' Bench. Would be great if we can block-book though. It really is a cracking weekend.

Further info:

If there are no couples, the maximum number Tony & Violette can accommodate is 13. More info on the weekend can be found here

The most likely way we will travel down is via the Ports/Caen Brittany Ferries crossing on the thursday night, then a leisurely ride down to Melle on the friday morning to arrive c5pm or thereabouts. Coming home, it'll be the return crosings at around 5pm on tuesday evening. Unless of course there are folks who'd like to extend their stay somewhere else in France. :)

I have 5 or 6 people showing definite interest at the moment so please let me know if anyone else is up for it. Owing to the popularity of these trips, it's best we fill the places as soon as we can. Thanks. :)

Update for the Flash Mob for 2015. :)

Received an email from Tony last night in which he's asked for deposits to be paid by 12th September which is the latest date he'll hold the remaining places for us. Hopefully we'll be able to fill those slots by then, if not they'll be released to the 'open market' as it were. I'm sure we'd rather it be a Boxertrix Exclusive weekend though. ;)

If those who've expressed interest in going could message me asap I'd be extremely grateful. On receipt of those pm's I'll forward Tony's details regarding payment of deposits.

Thanks all.

It's going to be an awesome weekend. 8)

Geoff (Rossy) is a possible.

A damn fine bunch already - would be good to add a few more to give us a 100% Boxertrix weekend. :)

LAST CALL:

Ok folks, reservation deadline for those who'd like to join us for the trip down to Chateau Flash is end-ex tomorrow night. After that, the remaining places (think there are 3 or 4) will be opened up to the great un-washed of non-Boxertrixity.

Thanks. :)

Update:

Ok folks, it's probably wise to start booking ferries quite soon as these things get booked up fairly quickly.

The crossings I'm looking at are Portsmouth to Caen as in the past this has given us the best choice of timings/ease of travelling etc.

Thursday 18th June: dep 2245 arr 0730
Tues 23rd June: dep 1630 arr 2115

Accommodation will need to be booked on top of the prices quoted on the Brittany Ferries website but we can share up to 3 or 4 people per cabin. The best way to approach this is for us to 'team up' - one person from each group then makes the booking, the others then paying him/her their share (hope that makes sense!). 4 people per cabin can be a bit of a squeeze though so it may be better to be in 2's or 3's.

At the moment we have...

Paul
Steve Warren
D-T (Greg)
Phil (Steve's brother)
John & Claire
Me

I'm happy to make the booking for my cabin group, will then leave the others to arrange their own. Please let me know once they have booked theirs so I know we're all going on the same boat. :)

I'm of course presuming John & Claire will want their own cabin which leaves 5 of us to share 2 cabins. I must stress that we get this done as soon as we can please as crossings do get booked up surprisingly quickly - cabins especially.

Thanks all. :)
