Nice one John. :)

Yes, don't see hooking up on the way down will be a problem. At the moment I'm planning on heading down mid/late-afternoon as it's a reasonable hike down to Portsmouth - will make for a less frantic arrival at the port. Might even get in touch with Paul & Co as we'll be swinging round quite near to their part of the world (ie M25/A3). Will also speak to Greg (DT) which way he wants to travel down - he's obviously further west than us so would think he'd go A34.

I'll be travelling A1/A414/M25/A3.

Blimey, 6 months to go and you lot are already planning route to the ferry!

I, on the other hand, shall plan my route the day before or even on the morning...just after I pack!!!

booked my Eurotunnel voyage

Post by Paul »

Just slapped down the cash for my Eurotunnel tickets. I'll be taking the train on Thursday morning and bimbling in a general southerly direction, in search of a pleasant overnight stop and and a good feed on Thursday night . Should I meet you boat boys en route on Friday? Lunch time at Le Mans?

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Having been told this is a damn good weekend on the recent Llangollen ride and surf extravaganza, I am seriously considering it.

Richard :-
Are there places left?
If so what is the best way to getting a deal on the ferry/tunnel tickets?
I've never used the tunnel before.

Cheers John

Hi John,

Yes there are places left - if you check out Tony's website at www.flashtours.co.uk it'll give you plenty of info. It really is a cracking weekend. Would be great to have you along.

Tunnel/ferry - all I can really say is check out what's on offer and there maybe something which suits?

Greg (Dog Tyred) and myself are taking the overnight boat from Portsmouth to Caen on the thursday evening which arrives in France around 7am. Then it's a leisurely ride down on mostly N-roads to Melle, arriving around 4-5pm(ish). On the tuesday we head off in the morning to catch the 5pm (I think!) ferry back from Caen. It's a really easy journey now the roads have improved immensely.

Apologies to Paul - only just seen his post - lunch at our 'usual' little roadside cafe sounds good? Think it's in Mulsanne if I remember right - will check out the actual location asap.

Edit: Found it (the café that is) - La Boule d'Or

John,

You're welcome to join me and probably also Steve W and his brother, taking the train on the Thursday morning at 10:20. You just need to arrive 30 minutes before the departure time, ride through the check in and straight onto the train. 30 minutes later ride off onto the autoroute in France. We will make an overnight stop at or near Le Mans, and wait for the sailor boys to catch us up at Mulsanne on Friday lunch time.

I have to head off to Frankfurt on the Tuesday after Flash for a work related non-jolly, but I think Steve will be heading home on the Tuesday.

Cheers,

Paul (must cash that cheque...)

Richard

Work threw me a curved ball last week on the same dates. Sorted all that out now though.
I will get onto Tony today and book up , then the tunnel to tie up with Paul on the same train on Thursday etc.
