Hi Kees

Did you notice much difference with the way the motor ran when you changed systems,i have toyed with idea of haveing a 2 into 1 made,has it changed the way the motor spins up,or has given more torque.

I went a long way to to fitting a letterbox 999 silencer,but it mean'thaveing to shorten the can to much,any ideas.

changing the exhaust can changes a lot in how the engine runs. especialy the front pipes. (from cilinderhead to colector.)

the exhaust that i made i just made. it runs good, bud it can run beter i think.

when you got short front pipes, it got a lot of torque, but doesn´t normaly run strong in top rpm.
with longer frontpipes, it got less torque and more horsepower in the mid and top rpm.

its difficult to say how the exhaust has to be made, just experiment a lot with it......loads of work... :cry:

silencers can also have a big influence on how the bike runs. i just try diffirent silencers, sometimes it runs better, sometimes it don´t.

do you have a pic of the 999 silincer on youre bike?

Hi Kees

It was a pipe of a factory 999 off one of the bikes that Nori Haga rode a few years back,it looked great when i taped it in position,but was way to long.

couldn´t you shorten it so it would fit nicely? .....probably it would be way to loud....

the silencers i use are also race silencers, termignoni from a duc 916.
i made 2 decibel killers, because it was so loud....pffft.

also the K&N filters produce a lot of decibels. especialy when downshifting and braking on the engine. :D
very nice sound.

Hi Kees,
Some very nice work there. Very "Moi" I presume you designed all the parts as well.
I myself have done some modifications to my Beemer, I must say I think mine are a little more technical and radical, but you can see the originality of the bike still shining through...

talk about a few mods, amazing. I loved the intro ".....but after 2 months i already wanted to change some things. " like the way you get nice stuff then make it fit!
(what Karlos has done is more like my ability)
liked your the other bikes as well

This is a remarkable piece of work :shock:

Particularly like the bits you have made up, specifically the disc carrier and hub assembly for the rear wheel, truely excellent [smilie=licklips.gif]

like youre bike to. think silver/yellow is the best coulor for the r1100s.
nice weight seving with the balloons. :P

I have only just seen this excellent thread! Well done Kees. I am impressed with the weight saving; 35kg! Just shows how much the fairing and rear frame assembly weigh.
I think it was Blackhole engineering that used two huge K&N's fitted to elbows so they tucked in where the airbox was; and described that the system required a variable fuel regulator to get things right - even used larger fuel injectors.
If you do want to change the yokes, send a pm to Scott in USA: fshartley@verizon.net. He made some excellent replacements which transformed the rigidity of the front end and may be able to help with some designs.

I'm assuming that as an alternative fuel tank a GS one should be pretty much a straight fit? The early 11GS's had plastic tanks if I recall correctly.
