I do confess to trying on the two piece race suit (cost £1000), plus boots (£230)....purely because they happened to have my size in stock you understand.

It made me look like a fat Power Ranger  ...I never bought it..honest.

Ummm, I think I may have made a retail mistake!

Nu2B, can't interest in a lovely race suit that doesn't match your bike can I?

Its not my fault, it's BMW's - you see, they delay the production of the bike and to keep you interested they release a 'HP' suit and I was suckered in!

Anyway, what's wrong with a fat power ranger? :sign3:

Ooopps [smilie=whistle.gif]

Whats the point in asking the question if you've already bought one?...... and especially if you may not like the answer

Personally, matching bikes/leathers is for MotoGP stars and promo advert riders only......... but hey, thats just my opinion (which is probably worthless).

I'm sure you'll look very nice. [smilie=blow.gif]

Hope you wear it for the next trixter meet :D :D

Nu2b

Really appreciate your straight answer. :) I've never got the matching bike/outfit thing before but since the HP is such a special bike I thought it would be ok.

But just had moment of clarity and realised I looked a berk in the photo on test ride (yes - laugh it up!) and you've given me reason to go shopping for something else.

Any suggestions?

PS as punishment for the entrapment, I'll promise to wear it when we meet.

Nice that you should ask my advice about style

Buy what you want, wear what you want. Just don't expect everyone to like it. It what you think that matters.

IMHO as far as leathers are concerned, Black is (and always has /will be) the new Black! 8)

If you must have some colour an acceptable ratio is 90% black to 10% colour.........but even thats pushing it a bit. Helmets on the other hand, can be a garish as you like :color:

Stick with black and you don't have to keep buying new leathers every time you change your bike.

Here endith the lesson.

RC8..... Snatchy???

Postby snavetrauts » Fri May 16, 2008 7:22 pm

I think that KTM are having great problems with the low down mapping of the LC8 engine.... On the 990 Adventure they have had similar problems.... most common mod is a "geared" throttle cam to reduce the snatchiness.

I've only gone and and broke it!!

Postby Yonkyo » Sun May 25, 2008 8:28 am

So there i was, really enjoying a great ride out with my mates on the Chepstow to Usk road. When BANG  . I hit some debris in road. I thought nothing of it initially and just carried on riding, until the guy behind me indicated for me to pull over.

I was absolutely gutted when he pointed out the damage to me. What ever it was I’d hit, had smashed a hole in my belly pan fairing.
Hey, I thought that Carbon Fibre was supposed to be strong.

All i could think of was sheeeite that’s gonna cost me at least Grand.
So the following day call my local dealer. He checks his system, then he asks me if I’m sitting down.

over £1400 for a new belly pan.

So does anyone know where i can get a good repair job done

In 2003 the BMW price for the BCR bellypan was IIRC £1375!

And it was not as good quality or as well finished. [smilie=biker.gif]

You could try Simpson Motorsport , they do a lot of carbon repairs, albeit on cars - F40s and the like.

Their rates are reasonable, and they're close (ish) to you.

Assuming you've fully comp, do you have protected no claims? Over £1400 has got to be worth tapping up your insurer?
All problems can be fixed with the correct application of a big enough hammer.

Cheers Fellers

Thanks for the advice. However, I think I might have a result :D .
The Phase One Endurance Racing Team, based down in Bridgwater, Have offered to have a look at doing the repair for me when they return from the IOM.
They said that their fairing expert has had loads of practice fixing carbon fairings, on account of a Mr James Hayden doing a bit racing for them recently  .
