Disc Lock Misery
Any one else had the misery of finding out how flimsy the front 'carbon' mud guard is?? In the face of the mighty (& forgotten) Oxford disc lock it just crumpled
I'll be giving Bahnstormer a call to see what a new one costs, but any thoughts abouht whether fibreglassing it or some other bodge woud work till I save my pennies up?

Hi Dave,
Do as Winger suggests or do as I did when I was a bit skint and could'nt afford a nice new CF replacement. I repaired and resprayed my OE mudguard. It didnt have disc lock rash like yours just cracking in the top varnish coat that looked awful. Ran the bike for a while with it on before I got an Imberger one but to be honest it looked pretty good, as if the bike was made to have a painted mudguard.
I used BMW spray cans which are top draw stuff, being an ex-sprayer and panal beater I can highly recommend them.

Had the same happen to me when a cabbie moved my bike.
Glued it all back together with superglue.
Then the same thing happened again 6 months later. Reckon I'll sort it just before I sell it, which should be a long way off.
I think adding a strip of screen edging to the leading edge should help prevent this very easy breakage.

this is going to sound bad but i have not and will never use one of those for the reason above.just not worth damaging any of my bikes for something that can be removed so easily.

If you need any hints or tips on the paint job just drop me an email and I'll be happy to help.
I still have this one packed away in the loft. Nearly sold it last year on ebay, In the end I'm pleased it did'nt go cos now I have the best of both worlds. Trust me, it looked really good, like I said it was as if it should have been painted from the factory. It was probably cheaper for BMW to stick the tacky CF lookalike one on to save a few bob.
