Instead of trying to stop, or swerve to avoid the crash (which wouldn't have worked anyway) or brace for impact, just before the impact I jumped as high as I could. As a result I walked away with nothing more than bruising. I have friends who have had serious injuries at lower speeds because they slammed into the car along with their bike. I glanced off the windscreen and landed on the road the other side of the car. My impact speed was about 40mph.
This is excactly what I did when a VW Scirocco pulled across my path when he was hidden behind a white van driving on the white lines. Although I was full on the brakes at the same time!

I was on a loan bike from Littlehampton Mc's, I got about 10 miles from the shop when it happened. I too launched myself up, but a little late as I snapped the handlbars off with my thighs (worst dead legs you could imagine), this actualy threw me forward on top off the car and slide a little then did a gracfull 180 and landed on my feet the otherside if the car. (The policeman while he was taking details wondered where the yellow line came from on the roof of the car, twas from my leathers as I had an alrm fob in the inside pocket at the time, broke that to.)
The bike was wedged in the passenger side of the car with the headlamp smashing the passenger window.
The bike was a Honda Translap thingy IIRC. I recall the long, long wait for the suspension to soak up when I applied the brakes, seemed like forever, I had time to realise it wasn't gonna stop and I wasn't gonna slam into the side, seemed the natral thing to do, I was probaly doing 50 when I saw the car, and about 15~20 at impact. Couple of stitches where the indicator switch dug in my leg and tore it, but apart from that I took the train home the rest of the way.
Picked up the VFR from the service the following week and toured Scotland.

Glad you are OK.

We've all had theses incidents I am sure... and i agree also that it would be good to turn around and have a word.

My tale of woe i won't bore you with... but lets just say as I went over the h/bars my nadgers had an appointment with the tank. Some weeks later the geezer involvedvery elderly) came around to my flat... to apologise and to genuinely show concern. As he got out of the car, he removed 2 cushions and attempted to twist his body almost getting out backside first. It was quite obvious he should not be driving like that... and he would almost certainly cause problems in the future.

I did not have the heart to say anything... but he should not have been on the road...... this was before the new license laws

As with everyone else, glad you are ok and still here to tell the tale.

My veresion is a guy in a white saxo who pulled out of a side road whilst having a mobile phone glued to his ear. I missed him by swerving to the opposite side of the road, which thank god was clear. I did double back after him and stopped 'for a chat' whereupon he was initailly very aggresive but then collapsed, almost crying and telling me that his wife was leaving him.

I should have felt some sympathy for him - but all I could think was "what an idiot"

So when is this 'Old enough to know better' supposed to kick in?
