Bars above top yoke

Post by Geoff. Ruffell »

Having read many of the previous threads I decided to lift the bars while servicing the bike ('98 non abs). I found, as often reported, that the brake hose was a little tight (bike on paddock stand). I pushed the fork tube back through the yoke and took the brake pipe over the top of the fork tube, effectively unwinding it from round the tube. The hose now runs straight up the outside of the fork and is not tight. As this has not been mentioned in any of the previous threads, am I missing something?
Regards. Geoff.

Just checked my 1998 non ABS which has the standard bars moved over the yoke.
On the paddock stand the hose is very straight and coils around the stantion about half a turn. It would be nice if there was another spare inch, but off the stand it is fine. I have been running it this way for the last 3 -4K with no problems.
As long as thye hose is not under any tension and does not foul when being ridden then should be fine.

Plivez, thanks for that. The way I have routed the pipe certainly gives some extra length, I will just need to check when I refit the side panels that it cannot chafe the pipe.
