Gaiter trouble

Gaiter trouble
Any idea how I re engage this Rubber Gaiter / boot between the singarm and gearbox.
I have tried to push it back in, but there does not seem to be any sort of seal happening, what makes it stay?

Ok I was almost correct, should have looked at the book first.
Been a long time since I have pulled one apart.
The gaiter does slip inside but with a spring clip which has either buggered off or is still in place.
I don't have a scanner so here is a digi pic from the manual.
I can fax it to you Thursday if you can send me a fax number.

You dont need to remove the swing arm.
Pull the gaiter off the gearbox end , then insert the clip inside the gaiter making sure that the gap is at 3 o clock or 9 o clock ie horizontal, then push the complete arangement into the swing arm end.
It's a bloody fiddly job but you will get there in the end, then pull the gearbox end into place.
Do not forget to lubricate the gaiter where it pushes into the swing arm and over the gearbox end.
There is a special grease to use, but I have always used Castrol red rubber grease wich works just fine.
I would NOT run the bike for too long without the gaiter in place as the ingress of grit and water would not do the uj,s much good.
Oh and by the way to the comedianes around you can do this any time not just at 3 o clock or 9 o clock

As mentioned my bike was missing the inner circlip from the gaitor.
I got hold of a secondhand one from motorworks. The sod will not go into the gaitor and then into the swingarm. I'm convinced it is just too big.
I have managed a couple of times to get it in, but it is too large so the ends overlap each other. And when I push it onto the drive shaft it knocks the circlip out again. I cannot spend another day trying to fit a f***** circlip.
Anyone done this job??
