In the Laser leaflet supplied with the Y + silencers, it shows the support bracket. When using the two Laser parts, the pipes fit as they should. I still fitted the support bar. There is no noticable increase in vibes. The bar is only 3mm thick, mounted via 6mm diameter bolts, not really rigid/dense enough to transmit a great deal of energy.
But I agree, Laser ought to get the measurements right.

What performance gains have you had with just Y piece?

Gave mine a good run today, pickup is a lot more urgent around 3750rpm upwards.
Feels like a new bike :)

Only around 2005 did laser produce the support bracket. At first it was extra cost, but then they supplied it with the cans.

This was after they had - over the previous few years - tried everything else. Oh - except getting the dimensions of the joint and the clamp right which would have been the easiest solution.

It is still not necessary if the joint is good!

Would the Laser Y-piece be a better fit when the bike already has the
BCR Laser exhaust system ?

Regarding the rubbers on the Y piece migrating inwards causing vibration, the simple solution is to cable tie them to the locating holes on the frame, then they stay put.

I do not know, because I don't know if the silencers on the 2004 BCR were exactly the same as Laser had been selling for the previous few years! If they were the same then the answer would be - No!!

On one of the incarnations of Laser's attempts to solve the problem, the support bars had stops on either end to stop the rubber bungs migrating inwards. The fact that they then put too much bar outside the stops to allow the support bar to fit correctly was perhaps only to be expected :argue:
