pilot power and pilot road 2 mix
need to replace my very square pilot power. Local dealer says I can put a pilot road on the back with my relatively new pilot power left on the front.
Anyone tried this or got words of caution?
thanks,
Henry

Henry, I'd get in touch with Michelin's technical support people and ask them. Generally it's OK to have a sticker tyre on the front than on the back (but not the other way around) but it depends on the profiles and construction of the two tyres whether they're compatible. I believe the Pilot Road has much more 'give' in the sidewalls (for comfort) than the Pilot Power and a mixture of the two tyres may cause odd behaviour, particularly on track when they're being worked hard.
BTW Michelin have issued a recall on some Pilot Power and Pilot Power 2CT tyres:

Sproggy,
Just spoken to Michelin and as you suspected they advise against mixing the two because they are constructed differently. He was sympathetic to the cost implication of replacing both but repeated his advice several times.
Perfect timing as the family cage is booked in this week for a big engine out service

It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.

Funny you should askthat.
same layout as our lovely boxers but 4 cylinders
namely a Subaru Forester turbo
do you think they all went to the same design school of practicality and common sense
by the way, changed both tyres this afternoon but kept the front pilot power as its only done about 1000 to 1500 miles. If anyone here wants it then its yours to collect either from home or the Ace.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
I'm guessing that that is the BMW Club track day on the 31st. Usually run in conjunction with the Guzzi club - and last year with one of the Buell clubs.winger wrote: What day is your track day at Mallory next week??
Fantastic atmosphere and very different - without the usual hordes of scruffy non road legal, semi-race Fireblades, GSXR, R1/6 and Ninjas etc. There are a few, but not many. The year before last there were even a couple of R100RS giving it heaps plus a couple of bits of old Brit' iron.
I'll be there
