Fitting Remus Y piece

Post by Geoff. Ruffell »

Hi Guys. Got a similar problem to Taz. Just purchased a Remus Y piece and the alignment is not good. Without the rubber bushes in place, if I loosely attach the left side there is a about a 4mm gap between the right flanges plus a misalignment of centres of about 5mm. Reluctant to just pull it all into shape on the skinny bolts. Should I slacken the headers and cross pipe, or am I just shifting the problem?

When i fiited mine i used the rubber bushes to support the cross bar of the y piece ( this was a bit fiddly but went with some jiggling ) and then just connected up the y piece to the header pipes. A bit of pushing and pulling was involved to get it lined up but it went, and then tightened into place with allen headed bolts.

I'm pleased with the result. it sounds more 'raspy' and a bit more menacing but certainly is'nt a ' in your face please pull me over officer' roar. i've not noticed any difference in mpg. there were a couple of soot marks where the y piece connects to itself and where it connects to the silencer. i gave the connecting bolts another good final turn and it seems to have cured it. There is an occasional mild backfire but nothing intrusive and not frequent.
