Parts Book on line

Post by F650Mal »

Hi Folks
I've just sent this to the Webmaster. If you think they are of interest let me know please. 8)
If they don’t get into the LINKS stick them in your favourites.

>>>>>
Hi
Though I’m new to Oilheads I’ve owned BMWs for over 22 years.
I noticed on your fine LINKS page that I couldn’t find any parts references. Although I didn’t open every link.
I’ve found these useful although not all parts are listed. The MAX site is in US $ but can give an idea of cost. Of course, even after conversion there’s no VAT.

I hope this is interesting enough to include in the LINKS
Regards
Mal

Mal,

I think I might have seen you at Cadwell park on a Hopp Rider training day two or three years ago. It was either you or some other fiend on an F650 (with a top box, if I remember correctly) who overtook me on one of my "fast" laps. I'm sure that guy also carried his F650 on the back of a camper van. To add insult to injury, he was talking to me after the session and told me he'd got the rear tyre out of a skip...

Welcome on board matey. I'll have a quiet word with the webmaster. He's a thoroughly good bloke.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Cheers Bailey. My biggest fear is that he's going to say it was not him, in which case there's at least 2 "mature" F650 riders who have the beating of me

Obviously, I'm much faster now and er .. I had a bad day.. and the air filter was clogged and er ... stuff like that. You've seen me and kno' damned fine well that I ride like a god*...

Paul

(*god-awful, that is...)

>>>>I think I might have seen you at Cadwell park<<< Twas ME
I got a warning for scaring the young folk by diving underneath them and passing on the right.. On my last Hopprider the new Telefix fork brace snapped and I lost the front at the left after Mansfields. The instructor said with more training he could make me into a good rider. I recon I’d go to Ron Haslam for any of that. Not been though. “Old dog new tricks”
I didn’t start getting my knee down till I was 60. I went to Circuit Carole France for 2 days of tuition from a GP rider Nicolas Dussauge He now runs the French cadet scheme. He encouraged me to try it as I’d never bothered before. I hadn’t realised the racket the plastic slider makes.
While we were there a Paris TV crew shot a load of tape for a safety film. To show the youngsters you’re never too old to learn. We all got a copy of tape they shot although they only use a small amount in the film. There’s one bit with me passing the camera that was placed on a box. ( after I hit one of the marker cone with my knee and it hit the camera guy ) With the Funduro being so quiet all that can be heard is the knee slider scraping by.
That was quite a trip in 2003. To celebrate my 60th I did a track day at Assen with the Ducati Club. Went to watch the bike GP at Le Mans then the two days at Carole. After two days on track ( + 2 runs at Assen) the back tyre was melted.
Where's that skip??

BTW..
I just blagged a (scrapped) Metz Sportec M-1 with a very small nail in the centre of the tread. It’s still got the molding pips in the centre. “Thank you I’ll take that” as I run with tubes.
YES!! I will remove the nail. I’ll also “Super Plug” ( like string with rubber goop) the hole. Works very well for small holes. 8)

What's a fast lap? I reckon I'd be totally useless on a track.
