motor cut out!!!!

motor cut out!!!!
Only had the 1100s a few months so I dont really know my way around the bike yet.
So, the sun came out ,took the bike for a spin, after ten miles the engine cut out.
I tried to start it, she fired once then nothing but after getting a tzxi home and returning with my pick-up the bloody thing started ..............
Is there a common electrical fault with these bikes that everyone exept me knows about?
Hope someone may have an answer.

I've had the bike running in the shed tonight and you would not think there is anything wrong with it at all.
I tried the side stand when it stopped first.

These modern bikes are a bit of an unknown to me.
Never had a fuel injected bike with all these sensors etc.
I will ride around close to home this weekend and see what happens.
p.s. got a taxi home when the bike stopped.
picked the bike up on my toyota and blew the head gasket and rad on the way back!!!

How old is the bike and how many miles has it done? Mine kept doing this (usually when filtering through traffic on the motorway). It turned out to be the wire from the ignition to the fusebox (that gets constantly bent when steering) had developed a break/chaff. Cost me about £20 for a 2nd hand one from Motorworks.

The Halls sensor is just a little thing that sits on a plate behind the alternator belt wheel on the end of the crank - you will be able to pick up a 2nd hand one no probs if it's that, and they're dead easy to replace. I think that if the problem is intermittent though it's less likely to be the sensor (hopefully)

I have run the bike for about 20 minutes in the shed tonight, I've moved the wires back and forth but not found a fault.
I cant imagine it could be the ignition trigger because it just keeps running O.K.
I will have to go for a longer ride and if there is a problem perhaps Carole Nash or those nice people in the RAC may bring me home.
I must get to the bottom of the problem as I intend to ride to the south of France later in the year.
