17L tank? Is that including reserve? Am I reading it wrong and it's actually 21L which would make more sense?

I read it as 17L in total, of which 4L is a reserve, i.e. 13L until the light comes on then 4L to get you to a garage.

Since the new engines have an active knock sensor I think you'll find that that the performance figures are based on 98octance (US guys are screwed then!), so I guess 17 litres of premium is expensive enough! 17L though? What bloody good is that? That's the same as a Hornet, and that's always getting slated for a small tank!

Think the new S looks great,but it's a single seater,so why buy a single seater with a 120hp engine when you can buy a Gixxer thou with another 50hp and cheaper???,or a ZX10 or R1 or Blade,Mille the list goes on!!.

It took BM's marketing dept 3 years to fathom out how to sell the S,looks like that single seat on the new S has just cut their target group buy half!!! i'll be interested to see how they get on.

Totally agree Chris. I can't see Sue enjoying 2,500 mile holidays on that pillion. I was looking forwrd to the new S but it looks like I'll be changing (If the S lets me down) to a low mileage 1150GS next.

if the insurance group is similar to the current S (unlikely) and not group 17 (like 999, mille, GSXR et al) then I for one would consider getting one as its also less likely to be target for thieves and hopefully not made from chocolate.... (unlike the current S fork legs, fasteners etc. )

as a two up mile muncher maybe not, as a fast, flexible road twin it could be ok - I'm even starting to like the stripes.

I suppose BMW want us to by the ST for sport touring...

Oh bugger! I was thinking of changing the S for something with a slightly more upright riding position and had settled on going back to Ducati and getting a S4R. I had seen early shots of the new S and thought like many that it lacked any visual synergy. Just looked like some bits and bobs all flung together. Aprillia suffer from the same messy styling. And then someone here post the pic of the bike in black with silver wheels! Bugger! It looks great! As soon as it arrives I will be booking a test ride.

By the way is it just me. I just dont get all excited over the new Triumph 675. Apart from the headlights it looks just like any other middleweight sports bike.

yup, so I just got the hose out and scrubbed mine down as it's going to have to wait another year before anything else might come along to replace it, shesh the xmas presents wouold have got wet today if I'd of had the 1200S i.e. they would have been cargo-netted to the seat instead of in they there nice plastic BMW panniers

I have been mucking about with paint shop and stuck a set of black wheels on a black 1200S and the picture is a bmp file in 'My Pictures' and I'll be damed if I can get it into this site......How the hell do i do it if it isn't an internet image?????... and doesn't have a URL???
