Re: Norton no more
In retrospect it is a shame. The company has been trading for about 11 years. The bikes actually do look nice and i dare say they will at some point be collectables. I was keen to hear what owners were saying about them.

In some respects there may be a De Lorean element to this story where the business owner gets desperate to finance his project and keep the factory running. Wildly ambitious. He may get a film out of it!

Thanks Chris, not a pretty picture - and it sounds like there's plenty more to come.

Re: Norton no more
Having read the Superbike article, I am amazed this has not unravelled before. The Spondon shenanigans are fraud and forgery and that was 10 years ago.

Re: Norton no more
Was quite a close one for me, when the v4 was first advertised I put my name down for a test ride, about 3 months ago I chased it up with the factory and was told that the first road going bikes were imminent and if I wanted to secure one of these bikes all it would cost was 500 quid with delivery in around 12 months with the proviso that if I didn't like the bike the deposit was fully refundable!
Was very tempted at the time but something made me pull back, feel sorry for people that have lost their livelyhoods and investments, maybe one day someone catches up with the con artist.

Re: Norton no more
Along similar lines is the recent demise of a well known independent Yorkshire garage specialising in Porsches.
Many guys lost huge sums of money through the garage, much of it was fraudulent.
The warnings on the web were there but not on the popular sites. That was due to the sites worrying about being sued (hence my not naming them) so the threads were just deleted. So many guys just had no idea of just how high risk the garage was.
I think we are all guilty of being too trusting and attributing others with our own standards. However, in bikes, boats, cars and aircraft it seems that there too many shysters taking advantage of human nature and causing lots of grief.
Due diligence may not save the day but it sure isn’t any good after the event.
