The maintenance schedule says: "renew every 24k miles, change after 36k miles"
So is it at 24k or 36k?

Re: Poly-V-belt on R11S - when is it supposed to be replaced?
If in doubt - do it. I used to do mine at 24000 miles just to be safe cant be wrong can it?
Maybe its confusion between miles and Km. 36000 km = 22365 miles ?
On the 1100 you have a strange tensioning device that you set using a torque wrench which I found confusing at first but then understood how it worked. You need there pars of hands or a double jointed spine. Its easier on the Hex Heads as there is no tensioner.

Re: Poly-V-belt on R11S - when is it supposed to be replaced?
It used to be 36k miles but when the servo braked bikes appeared they changed it to every 24k miles, due to the extra load on the alternator, extra load means it's harder to turn.
I suggest to my customers that they replace the belt every 24k miles on Servo/abs braked bikes.
Non ABS or just abs every 36k miles.

They last ages - like many this on cars and bikes, manufacturers want you to spend more on parts. I had one which started to slip after about 40k so I replaced it.

It will slip before it snaps, so wait until then.

So when you are half way up the Horseshoe pass or in the middle of the highlands with a slipping belt and a draining battery ........ Sounds like a plan but not a particularly good one I'm thinking
