Good evening. After recent ABS removal from R1100S the speedo and brake light not working. Local mechanic thinks my ABS computer is not working. Any ideas as to what I can do? I have tried to get another Servo but none available.
Thanks

You have to fit a relay I seem to recall.Cunninghama809 wrote:Good evening. After recent ABS removal from R1100S the speedo and brake light not working. Local mechanic thinks my ABS computer is not working. Any ideas as to what I can do? I have tried to get another Servo but none available.

Hi
I did something similar on a 1150 rockster of 2003 vintage.
The process is to drill the heads off the retaining screws to the part of the ABS pump that has the plug from the wiring loom.
This part that has /had all the plumbing connected can be discarded,
I then made up a tray /cover to go over the back of the reduced ABS electric.
secure back to where original ABS was housed and re connect.
When i did this......
Speedo worked
Back brake light worked
Abs warning light worke as if the ABS was still complete.
As a side note when i was stripping the ABS off the bike i followed 2 rubber hoses that run from from the plastic filler plugs on top of the ABS pump they run to near the swing arm and are open to the air.
This lead to several questions
1 - Is this most stupid BMW design uck up ever.
2 - should a sealed brake system need a outlet vent - shows a lack of
confidence in the design. mind you the sealed container message is all over the bungs.
3 - thats enough list.......

ABS
My r1100rs has a lovely working ABS after all these years.
Rugular - annual - fluid change seems to be good at keeping a healthy ABS.
