boxer cup query

Postby stevesilver » Mon Apr 04, 2016 2:38 pm

Am still looking to buy my first R1100S, Have narrowed it down to a BCR or the grey/yellow ones.
Have seen a few I'd have bought but have missed out on them for ! reason or other.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-R1100S-Bo ... SwPcVVmpwH

Hope this links it up ok? Its the one @ motorworks for £3250

I know this one has been for sale since last November, they obviously not in a hurry to sell. Its not in the best condition and mileage a bit high, but.
It is a BCR (how do you tell if it a genuine one?) and as such I think cheap.
It can over time be brought back to better condition.
Am I foolish to think this?
Have a top budget of 3K, hence no boxer cups been in my range.

Value your opinions (most of you) anyhow :D

Cheers all........

Hello Steve.
Having looked at the e bay pics, it looks genuine although the seat may have been recovered/replaced and a few extras added, such as the carbon fibre clock surround, could also have been laid on both its sides as the carbon fibre rocker covers look like they have a small case of gravel rash, my own has similar marks on its right carbon cover due to having one leg shorter than the other!!My 04 bcr has now covered 54 thou and I don't consider that high. the poor old soul is showing its age in "showroom condition" aspects but then don't we all!.
The price? well how desperate are you? go have a look, see it in the flesh.
Good luck.
Paul

That's not too bad a price for a Boxer Cup but they usually aren't quite as high mileage as that and it's not exactly mint. Given it's Motorworks it should run beautifully.

I actually think the grey / yellow ones are rarer than the Boxer Cups, especially the Mamolas. The best way to spot a genuine Boxer Cup is to take the last 5 digits of the VIN and plug it in here: http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html Look for the right colour scheme, and while you're at it you can see what options have been retrofitted or removed.

That's actually a really good deal. Even though it's not obvious it looks like there's a front Ohlins on that too. They make a huge difference to the handling. The scratched cylinder head is a quick and relatively cheap part to replace. No corrosion at all is very unusual for a 13 year old BMW!

You'd need to factor in - a respray of those pannier lids!

Subtract a few hundred "wiggle room" and you could have a real keeper which could cost nothing in depreciation.

Nope can't do it.

Its not been on road since last august or so, 9 owners, bit tatty, top doller even if its a BCR.

Must be poor if no takers in that time?????

Anyhow, I think ive found a peach not a BCR though, am going to see it sunday and hopefully be a first time boxer owner........... :D :D :D

Mandarin and Grey - lot more exclusive.
Add your own shocks and avoid the premium for the BCR

No need on that grey / yellow one, Ohlins front and rear saving you a lot of £££!
