Running on one cylinder
Hi guys, after some advice!
After taking my r1100s out of hibernation it seems to have developed a fault where one cylinder isn't firing!!
I've checked the coil and there is a very good spark on the affected cylinder, I also removed the fuel injector and that is spraying a fine mist. Which has stumped me for a solution?
The bike starts fine but idles rough, the right cylinder is definitely not firing, when is is running there is quite a distinct clakerty noise. It eventually dies without any throttle input?
Any ideas? Would it be a sensor?

I still hold on to the idea of gunked up fuel, as I had it my own-self with similar puffing and etc
don't sound as a "break down" fault
I'll give it a shot with some new fuel as soon as the weather breaks, if it is that will be a result! It's funny how one cylinder would ignite but not the other though don't you think?

Have you tried swapping coils between cylinders!
I have, unfortunately it's the same problem even with the ht leads swapped over. The spark im getting is a really strong one which Only confused me more!

As stated by BMbler. Fresh fuel to start with. If the bike has been standing modern fuels can degrade after a few months and the effects can appear random, same with water / condensation in the system. It's entirely possible it could effect one side worse than the other.
It's cheap, quick and easy to do, and if it works, great. If not, at least you have ruled something out.

bung in a couple of new plugs , just for good mesure , or swap them from side to side.
i also add a shot of two stroke to the first tank of fuel after a lay up , mind you , ive no cats to worry about either ,
two stroke is great , in everything , i put it in my bikes boat lorry and car ,, i love two stroke oil ,,,
