i have a NWS 'ulti-lift' (?) and want to use it on the BCR
i have just got - i assume the right-hand end of the swingarm pivot is
behind the small plate (with 4no. bolts) and that it is ok to remove said
plate to insert the tapered pin of the stand...? or am i mssing something?

why have they put a cover plate over that side??

That is indeed the other end of the swing arm bolt.
I not sure how the nws stand fits - the Abba has an adapter that fits on the outside, using the centre allen bolt (of the 4no.) so I've never taken the cover off. Hope someone with the nws type will be along soon to reassure you !

From the above posts, I am guessing that NWS make two types of stand that can be used on the 'S'.

The type that I was talking about is the type that fits using the rear pillion peg mounting points. I think that it is specific for the R1100S. There are two different versions of that stand - actually it is the same stand with different 'ends'.

The normal version has 'tongues' that fit into a gap in the pillion pegs. The other version has two plates that bolt into the pillion peg mounting holes on the rear subframe and then has 'bobbins' on the stand that locate into those plates. That is what was used by the UK Boxer Cup Team.

'Paul', I think, posted some pictures from Donington of Boxer Cup bikes, and the picture of the UK bike shows the stand perfectly. If he reads this, perhaps he could post the picture.

I think that it is slightly confusing to compare this stand with the ABBA stand. They are very different. The NWS one fits right at the very back of the bike in the same way as a paddock stand would normally be on a 916/996 etc. for example. I am not trying to pretend that it is a cure-all. It is a bit fiddly to use (in both versions), it could have been made out of larger section materials (it is a bit flexible) and in the 'single seat' version the machined plates will chafe on the rear brake pipe unless action is taken to prevent it!!

However, it does exactly what I want. It lifts the bike from the rear and allows work to be done on everything in the middle. Exhausts, bellypan, filters, drains - the lot!!

I can't comment on the prices as I bought mine second hand.

If 'Bikemad99' allows me to bring my van to the Mass Meet, then I will bring the stand and you can see it in 'action'.

I've got one of this too and attach it to the holes where the centrestand fits - think this is correct. There is a picture on the NWS web site.
