New BCR owner

Hi all.....had a Dyson 1100s a few years ago. Just bought an 02 BCR, the Union Jack one...#14.
Can anyone help regarding the background of these ?
Great bike to ride, very rorty compared to my previous, but it seems to have a higher 1st gear than I recall....probably my old age.
