Hi DT...left from Granville Island, so Strait of Georgia, the Canadian Gulf Islands & the US San Juan Islands areas
They are a resident Pod, as there is so much food in the area, and the Pod matriach was 100 yrs old we were told!

Thanks Mitch. Did a similar whale watching trip from Telegraph Cove (way up at the north of Van Island) back in 92. Foggy start to the day so couldn't see them straight away but could hear them nearby. When the fog cleared we latched onto a pod of about 8 Orca and followed them for an hour or so. As you say, magnificent creatures.

Is that a corrected spelling mistake in the word Whale? Looks like the L was originally an E ? Measure twice, cut once is a sensible adage.

I imagine the 'artist' did the sailing ship first, then the letters.

Not happy with the 'A' - it looks like he has gone on to try to better it - could be the same with the L/E?

If it was my father's handiwork - that would be my guess.

He was the last Engineer in our family to be spelling-proficient.

(When I was 3 yrs old - I wanted to be an engineer.............

Now - I are one! )

It's difficult to put a scale to the size of that tooth on it's own. How big is it?

That one is around 6", and the stained tip is what shows above the gum-line,

The other one I have is much whiter (I suspect the owner flossed regularly) and is probably 7-8" long.

DT don't know if you got to Tofino,Ucluelet area where we stayed but kayaking with seals, otters, dolphins, whales was awesome.

I took this a few months ago whilst I was a 'single parent' owing to Mrs Gromit being away on a 4 month deployment. I'd just trimmed Emma's fringe, hence why she was looking a tad miffed...I thought I'd done quite well.
