The bike has had an intermitent fault which I finally traced today not one but two chaffed wires going into the ignition block the bike would cut out momentarily when pulling away from a t junction ie when the bars were turned nearly fell off once or twice.
The green wire and the purple were broken almost completely through

Another common fault.
My wires did completely come away from the ignition block but I got the whole assembly replaced for nowt.. how?
If you have BMW Emergency Assistance, just call 'em out and report the bike won't start at all (you'll have to go down the stupid question list first). I had (as usual with BM's EA) excellent service and the block replaced for free (which is more than the cost of the EA).
Otherwise it's a self repair job or a wander down the parts dept.

Oyster,
Hope its out of warranty.
Page 72 of the good book 'warning: note that aluminimum surfaces form a natural oxide surface. For reasons of strength, this protective layer must not be removed from the fuel tank'
Probably adding strength to the forks, yoke, brakes and engine of all of our bikes.

Bern.
Symptoms: Cuts out for no reason, ususally making a turn. I have had that a couple of times, not only nearly of as a result, on occasion it can leave you in a position where you really need the power on sharpish.
Where do I give closer inspection? This site has the answers before the question is asked.
Thanks
Mark
