Ohlins Spring Rate Question

Provided the S starts tomorrow, I've decided on a set of Ohlins - they complement the exquisite black coloured S so perfectly. May even bling the fork lowers gold too like the Multiblender P39 of the Comic this week

However, having done the research, I have a question on spring rate.

At 105Kg ready to ride plus a 5Kg bag of stuff we are looking at 110Kg solo. I rarely ride two up, however the missus is aroung 65Kg ready to ride.

Should I specify the 160g spring rather than the stock 150g. I think the answer is yes but just wanted to check here.

I would say go with the 160.

You could get away with a 150 but you'd need shit loads of preload a 160 will let you set the shock nearer the norm,i use a 160 and should have gone 170 with most of my rideing being two up but can't be arsed!!!

I have a hefty spring on my Ohlins, set up for (as Chris says) the majority of our two up riding. Too much for solo, hmm, a little bit, and you'll do need to wind in/out a load of pre-load too.

For me, it's a good comprimise. If I did lots of one up riding I'd just have a spare spring (at £14) and change 'em for the hols.

Yea i reckon a 170 would be to much for one up,a 160 will cover the odds,funnly enough I've a 180 on my Tiger and run it without any preload i ought to strip it and go 170 but for the same reason as the S haven't done it.
