Well friends,
I've got an Odyssey PC535 4 years ago. Bike used daily most of times - if not a CTEK 3600 "smart" charger used. Bike garaged (but not heated). Average night winter temperature around 3-5 degrees (metric). Alternator OK (charges at ~ 14.2 V). No alarm etc etc - only drain is due to the ECU/CEU.
Battery gives me some signs of weak operation:
(a) discharge rate is about 2% instead of 1% (fully OK battery). By that I mean that 12.8 today drops to 12.6 tomorrow.
(b) average still voltage varies from 12.63V (bad) to 12.85V.
(c) cranking voltage is around 10.2V max (not that good).
(d) in one particular cold start (around zero) effort the battery refused to play (and ECU registered a "low voltage event" - inquired via GT-1 and GS911 as well).
(e) when fully(???) charged via the alternator voltage is 12.82V.
Is it time? of there's some live left on that old goat?
best, Peter

I've found with this type of battery that a while charging with a normal charger seems to "refresh" them.
The maintenance chargers only seem to put about 80 to 90% into them, so now and then give them an hour on a normal charger to pep them up

Word of warning don't leave on boost charger for too long they take on a strange slightly rounded look and will no longer hold a charge [wonder how i found that out]

.

Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.
It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

I have an R1100RS and its on its third PC680 which is a bit bigger. They seem to last about 5 years before expiring. I normally left it on a BMW trickle charger over the winter. This year when speaking to Motorworks they said that when laying up for the winter to charge fully before lay-up but dont leave it on a trickle charger.
