I thought about that when I had the sub-frame off to paint, only reason I didn't was
a: No rivets to hand to replace the end caps
b: Couldn't find someone who'd done it before and wasn't brave enough to delve in blind

It's all a tash really, bearing in mind most people here ride on public roads. My bike came with a loud as F... Two brothers racing exhuast, mated to a BMW cat system.

Utterly shite, but loud/

Now much better bike with a german stainless Y piece and added to an original BMW exhaust that I imported from usa.

Totally happy with that set up and have an unused BMW tail pipe if needed ( unused) plus 2 BMW cats ( one unused ) if I ever need ( or want ) to sell.

:D

The "de-gutting" of a standard exhausts has been done by Bill over in Barnsley. It's loud now but a hell of a lot of work. it's full of pipes.

Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Thanx. The mufflers are typical Chinese quality but as they are under the seat and its for my own bike its not a problem but if I was to make one for someone else I would want to use a better quality product to start with so the price wouldn't be a lot less than what you pay for an off the shelf one.

And I just like making stuff.

Frankly, who cares if it's chinese quality. Stainless is stainless.
If you look at the original exhaust, you might wonder if German quality equals Chinese...

Good effort :D

At least when you make it yourself - you ensure that the final fitment is without stress.

Just a quick note on the Vanderline system. My bike had one fitted when I bought it and at the MoT a couple of months ago I got an advisory because of the volume.

Doesn't surprise me! Definitely the best thing I did to my bike though!

Mine was also marked ''not for road use'' which made the examiner suck air through his teeth.

Bought my '04 BCR earlier this year.

It still had the Laser mufflers but no cat.

Has anyone actually eliminated (or even thought of eliminating) the right side muffler? I have taken a rag and held it over the right muffler outlet with little, if any, change in exhaust sound while revving. Looking at the design with 2- 90° turns to get to that muffler tells me why.

In line with this thought I was actually thinking (no, I haven't been drinking (yet) today  ) of blocking off the right muffler inlet, gutting that muffler but leaving it in place and turning it into tool storage. OK, stop laughing now.....

I would imagine that many of you would be horrified that I want to alter a BCR Laser system.
