Having bought the R1100S to do some touring and persuaded 'madam' that it is a good idea, the ferry is booked.
Today I thought I'd better check what the cost of breakdown cover was in Spain. The AA quoted £140 or £105 depending on level of cover. For a 11 day trip this seems a little rich.
Apart from 'self insuring' and hoping for the best what other options are there for cover abroad these days?

Check with your insurer i'm with Carol Nash and i think i get 30 days in europe included you can only have three call out's a year but well worth having, also check your bank account i have AA cover with that as well but not recovery i will be looking into getting that upgraded to recovery, also the bank account one covers any vehicle, the Carol Nash only covers the insured vehicle
If your not covered i can reccomend going for the AA cover as it will be you thats covered not the vehicle
Hope this helps Dai

Good tips from Dai
I always do an internet search and have never paid anything like what the AA are quoting you.
When I went to France in July I used these people http://www.startrescue.co.uk/european they are quoting £37 for 16 days cover providing your bike is less than 10 years old.
One tip from me though, make sure you've got plenty of life on your tyres, from bitter experience I have found that getting a bike tyre fitted abroad is both expensive and a pain in the proverbial.
