Clutch Pressure Failure

Post by RiceBurner »

Anyone else had this happen??

BMW Rockster, just had the 18,000 service.

Riding home last night the clutch bite point starts coming further and further back towards the bars until I can't actually get the clutch to disengage!

rode the rest of the way gently with no clutch at all.

It WILL pressure up if you pump the lever, but I don't know how long it'll last.

Any ideas?? There was NO leaks anywhere visible and the clutch hasn't been touched (to my knowledge) since I bought the bike.

It's going into Vines tomorrow morning.

If the level in the sight glass isn't dropping the only thing I can think of is that the master cylinder piston seal may be duff and allowing fluid to leak by back into the reservoir instead of pushing it down the pipes.

Stempy - that's a possibility.

I've spoken to them and they're apparantly ordering a new slave cylinder. hmm.

Haven't asked yet if it'll be under warranty but I'll be bloody surprised if it isn't. (they've been VERY good about warranty work so far).
