Stainless rear whl bolts ?

Post by kfrogzx7 »

Unfortunately BM built these R11s down to a price a bit as evidenced by the corroded studs all over the place.
Mainly I'm wanting to find replacements for caliper retainers, disc bolts and particularly the awful looking rear whl bolts.
Such a shame to spoil the look of those lovely stylish wheels with rusty old bolts - help please.

Racebolt do disc bolts etc in ss / tit but not rear whl bolts.
Anyone know where to get some stainless or titanium ones ( they're hex hd flanged M12x52 )?

BTW anyone know about thread pitch and tips on how to measure it ?
I think 1.25 is 1.25 mm per thread ( one rotation ) or 10 threads ( turns ) per 12.5 mm ?

You can get an app for your phone that allows you to compare the thread against a set of teeth on the screen or get a proper thread guage

I don't think anyone does stainless wheel bolts - for good reason

Stick to BMW original - would be my advice.

Google wheel nut covers (17 mm) and you can get a set of 20 from Amazon for about a tenner. They come with a removal too as well. Just make sure they aren't deeper than the bolt head (they look ok in the image tho)

I wire brushed the bolt heads and spray pained them. Tried matt black and next time silver. Both looked good,
