Gloves and boots.

Reccommendations, prices, availability anyone please?

Gloves, get some latex gloves and wear them inside

Boots, carrier bags inside.

Nikwax works for me on boots, not 100% but will hold heavy downpours at bay for a good few hours. Then either use seal skin socks or overboots to stay completely dry for long periods.

The only way I can see of keeping gloves dry is those funky overmitts - not much good for using the controls but Ok for long stretches with few junctions.

Rubber condoms on me feet,the problem is getting e'm nowhere days.Demon Tweeks still sell e'm among others,alternative most garden centers sell a featherlite version!!! trouble is they only come in green!!! and i bet you think i'm jokeing!!

Unlined two piece jacket and trousers over a three quarter armoured jacket and leathers.

Oddly enough quite a conversation with Smithy a couple of years ago about waterproof jackets,no such thing!! but with a thin unlined one over the top will keep out most things for 6-8 hours at least.

What Chris said re Daytona.

Not cheap, but bloody awesome - I've a pair of Roadstar GTX (as has Steve Warren) and they're brilliant. Never had even slightly damp feet wearing them.

Highly recommended.

Boots - Prexport wit goretex inside - end of story 2

Dubbin from the local ramblers, shop cheap and easy. Rub it well in and finish with boot polish..If you don't all the road crud will stick to you like shit to a blanket! Been using it for years NEVER EVER had wet feet yet.

I've got some latex gloves so I guess I can use those, and some gore-tex socks (£10 off e-bay) and they're good too - as long as you alreay have them on when it starts raining. My Gericke clam gloves were always waterproof but are leaking now after a few years - same with my goretex Alpinestar boots but they're buggered now too.

Cheap waterproof overjacket/trousers keeps me dry enough over me leathers so no probs there. I'll certainly try the dubbin (that's a word from my childhood I've not heard for ages) on the boots and see what happens too

Having tried both I reckon Nikwax has the edge over dubbin. Through the few hours of torrential down pour we encountered in Switzerland my feet stayed dry inside 10+ year old Frank Thomas summer boots... cheaper than Daytonas too

They also do glove proof but I haven't tried it. I just use renapur to keep the gloves soft and water repellant - I find water normally runs down my sleeve before the glove leaks... yeah, I know, glove inside cuff when it rains.

Boots - stay away from Sidi Black Rain, total crap. Don't buy Daytona they look like wellies. Get something trendy and wear gortex sox.

I actually found Sidi Black Rain very good for water protection through the two winters that I have used them, however they do not keep the cold out as well as the Alpine Star SMX1's I had next, but those shits fell apart after 6k miles

Who cares what they look like as long as they work! (you DO ride a BMW don't you?? )

Re keeping boots waterproof - keep your toenails trimmed is my best advice....
