And the Rear Drive box shaft seal has gone already.

Vines are fixing it under warranty and say it's a common problem (defective seal) - is it?

yup, mine started to dribble at 8k and then finally went to full-flow on the same day as the 12k service with the gearbox output seal as well for fun. CW spent the whole day with two people doing the warrenty claim while I played on their F650CS demo and saw some family in Dorchester :D

Got it back (finally!) - £201.something for the 6K service and the play in the driveshaft adjusted up within the warranty work. :)

Not bad I thought?

"Not bad" - on a 6K bike? It's Feckin' terrible RB, if it was car you'd be screaming at 'em.

Drive Seal gone?

Post by Rob B »

Lads,

What are the tell tale signs that your seal has gone? I have just returned from the summer hols trip and there is some oil leaking out of the back of the rear para lever gaiter. I guess there is execss lube washing around somewhere.

Yep, that sounds like it. Bailey kindly pointed mine out - I was blissfully unaware up until then.

It must be the norm for this seal to fail as BM have a set labour time for this job. I think mine was about £120 including the parts (less than £10 for the parts :? ) and was done with the 18k service.

I take it you had a good trip. Did you get the same varying weather systems from blue skies through to torrential rain like we had?
