Bloody hell
I would have posted this on Friday night but I've only just regainned the function in my retinas

!!!! I installed the HID kit ( Thanks again Adam

) after I had finished swearing at, sorry working on the Alarm/Immobiliser on Friday.
I'm still impressed at them everytime I'm in the car after dark, but somehow they seem all the more impressive on the bike ! The best bike headlights I'd used previously were on my old VFR, but this just eclipeses them, completely, totally & without question.
If you ride in poor light or the dark then forget loud cans and chips, get yourself an HID light setup, it'll be one of the best improvements you can make for your riding.

I don't ride at night or in poor weather but I still find they attract the attention of otherwise braindead box drivers on the main roads who tend to clear the outside lane because it is unusual (assuming they have mirrors in the first place)
Well done Paul for not torching the bike - or are you good with electrics?

HI Lloyd,
Oh yes I'd imagine that they're going to startle more than one motorist in the months ahead

Especically now I've repainted my bike Blue and White !
I wouldn't say I was good but I can muddle through most things, eventually.....< can anyone else smell smoke ? >
I stripped the bike completely at the front so that I could mount everything as discretely as possible. I opened the RHS components box and mounted the control relay from below so it appears to be OEM in the box itself. Then I routed the wires through the existing grommets and used the vacant feeder grommet to put the control line into the headlight housing after extnding it. The only bit I'm not happy with is the bulb wires which I ened up having to use the built-in grommet for coming out through the rubber access seal. I might revisit them and insert a lenght of suitable wire to enable me to route them beside the control line giving a totally concealed installation. < I'm sure I can smell smoke you know >
Just off to check why all the men in Yellow helmets are running down my driveway ! ! !

Please excuse my ignorance but, what are HID lights? Are they spot lights or are they extra bright lamps? Maybe a photo could be posted!
Can anyone point me in the direction of reasonably priced rear/brake and indicator LED lamps?

HI Mike
Not at all, in fact that's a good question. HID ( High Intensity Discharge ) are what most people would describe as the bright white with a blueish tinge lights that you are seeing more and more these days. They don't have a filament and the light is generated by the 2 nodes continuously arcing which is what gives off the light. The benfits are that there is no filament to break or burn away <that's whats happening when you get a black bulb> and because of this they can operate in a differant temp range giving a more natural daylight like light. Don't fall for some of the marketing bollox that's out there, higher range is not a better light in the real world it comes down to the lumens for giving you better viz <ideally get 4k's> They used to just be on highend cars but now becoming very common. I'll take a pic after dark and post it for you as that's when see the benefit !
LED rears, do a search I'm sure there was a few postings on that just recently ( I'm sure I can remember being sarcastic about the costs

) If you don't mean a whole replacement housing, just the actual lamps, try the likes of Busters, Motrax and M&P, they all do that sort of accessory
Then of course you need to come back and tell us all about it !

Motorworks can supply a rear lamp set in led (german) - but cheap it is not and you have to get the fibreglass insert sprayed to match as it only comes in primer.

Mick
Try the following link to M Tec in Germany, for a circuit board full of LED's for the rear light - €79 / 89 or the version sold by Motorworks for €129
http://www.boxerparts.com/
You will find it under Online shop / LED Rucleuchten & Blinker

The standard lights on the Blade are as good as the S with HID's. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Ditto the front lamps on the Pan, but in general the whole H experience leaves me cold.

The Honda left me cold mid-corner on the A30 one night when the lights went out, luckily I'd been brought-up in the area so made it around without visiting the local cow herd
