Just been out for a ride and glancing down at one point noticed R/H Indicators still going, so thumb the cancel, R/H indicators still going. If I hold the cancel switch in they stay off, but as soon as I release back on they come. As a get me home took both bulbs out.
Relay, switch, wiring? Any thoughts peeps

Yes mate, according to Max Bmw site it is the same, BMW Part No: 61312306979, in fact it seems to be the same for most models.
Curious as to you wanting old one, can you fix them? Whatever it is a very kind offer which I would like to take you up on, cheers mate.
ill take the old one out tomorrow and just check against your pic.

Iain, Guess what, took the unit out just now, cleaned the contacts put it back, all working again!!!.
Thanks for the offer, I still might take you up on it in the future if its just a sign of imminent failure.
Here is pics of mine for reference, different Part no, but maybe just a supersession.

Looks like you're sorted ,but I had a similar problem a few yrs back with the left indicator while spending a few wet (but not miserable) days in Scotland. It was grand once I rolled off the boat back home ,so I assumed it was water in the switch

I dismantled the left switch housing and used plenty of silicone grease.... The problem never reoccured (although I've never been back to Scotland either

I don't think those two boxes are 100% interchangeable, I'll tell you why.
The one that _IT_ posted the pic of has printed on it:
12V 2(4) x 21W + 1(2) x 4W
the other has
12V 2(4) x 21W + 1(2) x 3W
I suspect that this relates to a power-rating on one of the circuits controlled by it, and although 3W versus 4W doesn't seem likely to make a lot of difference I'd personally be a bit wary.
