Had new Pilot rear 6" tyre fitted last Friday then went up to Lincolnshire.
Motorway all the way up. But once in Lincolnshire~ those lovely rolling hills and if you happen to misjudge a bend you're likly to end up in a ditch not like the high granite walls down here .
On the way back down the M5 as I was coming into Michaelwood services the engine cut out at about 40mph. I coasted to a stop and tried to restart but to no avail. Switched everything off and tried again - no go. After another switch off it fired up. The bike had ran fine all weeked, just this one glitch, strange .
On another note the pictures in 'Black Cat' where there was corrosion, BMW are replacing the timing cover due to the paint lifting and flaking off.
Mine cut-out like that last year, also while I was on the move. It turned out my battery cables were loose and the battery was dead aswell. BMW assistance where very helpful and replaced in at the side of the road but it was a bit of a worry.
Have you started it up since?
Might be worth checking the connectors too.
Re: the flaking paint....'they all do that sir'. Funny isn't it that when you ask about using oil, thats the response you get, but even though everyone's engine covers flake and peel they just quietly replace them without really admitting its a known weak point!?
Had mine replaced last week at the 12000 mile service. In fairness it just had one bubble on it but I wanted it replaced as the warranty runs out in October and its unlikely to be in for another service before then. I cake mine in ACF50 in the winter and it definately helps keep the corrosion at bay.

My county of birth and everyone thinks it's flat!!!!!

Compared to Scotland you may have a point and yes there are huge tracts that are barely above sea level, but so are lots of other parts of the country. There are some fantastic riding roads just inland from the coast running from Laceby down to Louth in the Lincolnshire Wolds (hills).
Rolling hills was the term used. If you've never been to Cadwell Park this picture sums it upnicely and no it's not me.....
To call it "The Mountain" may be stretching the imagination a bit though.
Battery leads OK. I'm getting the bike a 6000 mile service end of the month. Timing cover being replaced at the same time. So this will take up most of the day. I may get a loan bike to go into Plymouth.
Ah yes, the Lincolnshire Wolds. I spent some time at RAF Binbrook in the 70's. Used to go to Cadwell park quite often to watch the racing (mostly club).
The weather was very nice for the weekend. On my way up the M5 I saw hundreds of bikes going south. I reckon they must of been going to Paignton. Did anyone fromm Boxertrix go?
