Y Piece now fitted

Post by snavetrauts »

The Y piece Gijs gave me is now fitted. All went on easy peasy. Have not run it yet. First impressions are that it does not sound much louder (which is good for me) but has a more rounded, creamier sound.... nice.

I took the rubber bung off the centre stand where it would normally contact with the cat.... and drilled a 6.5 mm hole for the same bung about 30mm up from the bottom of the right leg. This now makes contact with the rear bracing arm avoiding denting and screwing up the paintwork on it.

Cheers Gijs .... looks a treat. Maybe piccies later if anyone is interested.

Have now been out on it.... although mostly bimbling, it is definitely a nicer sound.... a warble and creamier sound than before.

Cannot say I felt any major difference in performance... although it seemed to pick up quicker. Downshifts seemed much slicker too, probably because of the pick up.

What I did notice however, that if you were in the high gears (5/6) just rolling on the throttle was a lot better and umphy!!

I guess that's simply better breathing???

Hi Stuart,

I have the "Y" piece ordered as well,
what did you do with the Lambda thingy?

Un saludo

Soak the Lambda thingy for 24hrs first with penetrating oil...5-56 over here.

My Y piece has a hole ready for it. It required about five turns to get it off... but if you loosen the loom (no need to disconnect)... and then back it up 5 turns before you put it back.... you will avoid any tension or twisting in the wires.

I have kept the cat for the import ITV when I do it.

Good luck

Stuart
