Centre Stand Fitting

Post by Hoppers »

My new 1100S came with a centre stand which requires installing.

Could anybody tell me, should the shackle be hung from spring hanger on the frame, or from the stand itself?

Also, do the bolts need thread lock or just require torquing up?

Hi Hoppers,
My bike has the shackle hanging on the frame. According to the BMW maintenance manual the bolts are tightened to 42Nm no Loctite.

yes, but... I lost a couple of centre stand nuts in my time with my R1100Ss. I would dab a bit of threadlock on just to be sure, to be sure

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
