Chris - Hideout were a local firm to me when I was living at home in Cambridge; got my first 'proper' leather bike jacket from them in about 1982 I think. I believe they moved to Royston(?) a few years ago. As far as I know they're still producing some extremely good kit.

Couple of years ago teh leathers that came top by some margin, above BKS, Crowtree and Hideout were MJK. Custom Made and bloody well priced, especially in plain black.
Abrasion, build quality etc etc they came top in nearly everything

Chris,
You wont beat Crowtree, but unfortunately they are no more, thought Lloyd would have told you that as he got a pair before they shut up shop.
My wife has a set of Hideout 2 piece leathers and they are good, got Ride best buy recently, good customer service.

The Mrs has just bought a 2 piece, made to measure, suit from Hideout, when I say bought, I mean she had the fitting over the weekend, should get the completed suit in about 10-14 days. from what we have seen should be excelent, if not we have wasted (a lot) of money

I bought a pair of Hideout made-to-measure gloves around a decade ago and am still wearing them. Excellent quality, though I don't think they do gloves any more. Obviously I can't comment on their quality nowadays, but I still love my old gloves.
For my 2-piece, I had a made-to-measure set by Zak leathers in 2002 (
www.zakleathers.co.uk). It's a one-woman company (Karen) so you get a very personal service from a proper family-type firm. The leathers were excellent from the off, and are still in as-new condition, despite my minimal care! Having previously had Crowtrees, I felt Zak were a better road suit, with comfortable fit and top protection.

Hideout still sell gloves but no made-to-measure.
I was talking to a chap on thier stand at Excel show and he said it takes them 13 hours to make one pair of gloves. The pair I was looking at cost about £230 and I think was top of their range.
Problem I have with gloves is that I have large width hands but short fingers. Not that wide really, just about size 9 but off the shelf gloves I can fold the ends of the glove fingers over quiet a lot. Tried womens gloves but their palms are too narrow. My current gloves are a few years old (I bought them 2nd hand) and are wearing away with holes in the leather - and I am talking HOLES!
