Bluetooth or just to long in the tooth

Help!
Now got the sat nav (garmin 550 ) god,how i hate sat nav, im a member of the flat earth society, yup i can read maps. but to ease my injection into europe on bcr & to fend of the crys of " your lost aint you! " i joined 20th century ferret.
Now can anyone reconmend one of them bluetooth things that fit round your ear, under the helmit that allow you to hear the crap directions being slung in your direction from it that should be obayed.
I do also wear glasses, so bits being hung around my ears may find space being a premium under the hemet.
Should this sat nav be a succes, my carrier pigeon may well find it self redundant

I have an interphone, which works very well with the zumo 550, and it also works as a bike to bike system if your mate has one too, but only over a very short distance. http://www.motocomp.com/

I've never bothered with the in-ear thing, and I have the sound turned off in the car too.

If you have a vague idea of where you are heading, satnav is a convenient double-check for roundabouts & motorway exits, but there's no way I'd have turn-by-turn directions bleated at me.

I ran the scala rider unit with my Zumo and it worked very well. Though I've kinda decided to do without the hassle and go for a pair of plug in speakers TBH.

I'll probaly ebay the Scala, I also have a spare Scala unit with the bracket in bits but a working receiver unit. I used to charge one up under the seat and if required swap em over while out on the road.

I stop anyway to use the phone, so will rely on the zumo telling me there's a call and deciding whether to stop or ignore.

Does anyone know if one can use a phone c/w bluetooth and wired earphones to listen to a Zumo?

I think you can Simon. You'll have the speakers and mic wired to the cradle, then the Zumo comunicates with your phone via BT. But go look on the Zumo board for conformation of that before spending.

i'm with hirsty, i already have a pretty good idea where i'm going from the map but use the gps to make sure i don't take any wrong turns just by looking at it or use it if i get a bit lost. i use ear plugs and therefor don't like the idea of a headset in my helmet and a lug hole unprotected from wind roar et al.

thanks steve for the link, when you say over short distances for bike to bike, how short is that?.
have looked at site & the fixings to helmet, are they secure?
I would prefere a H U D on my visor of a map but until then i will have make do with a sat nav in conjuction with the old faithfull OS map!

Bike to bike distance is a claimed 500 metres, but I haven't tried it out, i also haven't tried it with earplugs in, I do have the volume up 2 3rds and it is clear as a bell, but i guess it would vary from helmet to helmet.
