Hi Steve

I've done two on my bog standard 2004 R1100S at Oulton Park, still complete with cat and it still left loads of the Jap, straight line speed merchants for dead.

I always just have the standard suspension set fairly hard, reduce tyre the pressures a bit and off I go! Lots of people on the forum say the standard suspension is crap, but I've always felt OK with it. It's probably only when you've got a set of Ohlins or similar that you really notice the difference.

Never had the pots down, but I think that's down to the rider and not the bike's ability to go further over!

You'll be surprised how well they go on the track, just enjoy it

Geoff

Had mine at Croft last year, standard S with the GS rear arm. Normal road rubber at 30psi. The back is just crying enough at the end of the session, getting 'a little squirrly' ((C) Kevin Schwantz) and heading to highside territory out of the hairpin.

Knee down plenty but pots not down. Outgunned out of the corners by the 750+ boys, even-ish with the 600s, but generally reeling them in and passing them in the corners.

Usual thing - build up as the day goes on, just shortening your braking periods each time and braking harder. These things really do stop well. And at a bumpy track the suspension really comes into its own.

Think I may have added a turn or two on the rear preload, otherwise just left it alone.

Good enough for the intermediate group. Looking forward to some more this year.

I've gone a few at Cadwell at a moderate pace. I have the short GS torque arm fitted with Ohlins and weigh 105kg fully attired.

Problem I had was the pegs touching down as laps got faster. I was advised by the instructor to redistribute body weight more by hanging off slghtly into the corner. Problem went away and the bike corners more naturally. Took a bit of time to get used to it tho'.

As for braking, I don't think I do it hard enough for there to be an issue.

Hi
I done a couple on my S.It had standard suspension on at the time with a short rear arm.I dropped pressures a couple of psi allround.I had short oberon pegs fitted which didnt touch down. However gear lever, rear brake and cylinder heads did at gerards, hairpin, busstop and devil elbow at mallory.Nobody outbraked me into the hairpin.Standard brakes with ebc pads, thats the telever front end for you!To be honest,i was riding the bike very hard when i knew which way the track went.Great fun!Hope you have a good time.

I was back at mallory the other day testing a sidecar outfit and they are doing a lot of work to the place.
the new gerrards chicane has been removed along with a lot of armco. and the visability going into the bus stop has been improved massively.

i suspect the movers behind much of that are the Thundersport Uk people that have based themselves there.

The HRT 'Better-riding" day at Cadwell on May 13th will be a good 'un. Plenty of variety in bikes as its not the usual track-day crowd.

I'm booked it, although I'll probably be taking the Blade. I did it on the BM last time though and it was a hoot. I left the suspension (Ohlins) standard and just let the tyres down a bit (i.e. reduced them to road pressures (32/38) when they were still hot after session one).

I've got an all-day session with Niail Mckenzie at Knockhill (got it as a gift) - a bit apprehensive, but am taking the Boxercup on the basis - that it owes me less if I bin it :?

Mind you - by all accounts............. it shouldn't be lacking!

Now - just need to scare up a new front wheel for some appropriate rubber
