Can anyone tell me or has pics of how to protect a fibreglass bellypan from the heat generated by the exhaust pipe connecting the two downpipes.

There is only about 3-5mm clearancealong the top front edge. Do I stick some kind of heat resistant mat on the inside of the fibreglass or wrap the pipe with something.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

I used sticky backed insulated foil sheet used to lag pipes when i had a bellypan .I pilfered some off a site i was working on.Should be able to get some from a plumbers merchants or building supplier.Stick it onto the pan on the inside around where the headers and link tube get close.

Would it get that hot down there? GRP would probably be alright, some of the cheaper plastic pans may suffer.

I suppose I am worried as much about the effect of the heat on the paint finish as on the GRP.

I don't know if it will get too hot or not and I don't fancy keeping my hand there for a while to find out
