Recently my ABS lights have been doing the old slow-flashing routine - sometimes things are fine, but mostly it starts once I'm riding. I don't think there's anything that sets it off or anything. Is this likely to just be a slightly low battery voltage? Or something more sinister?

Mine has the "integrated" ABS, if that makes a difference. I'm considering junking the system, going to braided lines all round and recouping the cash by selling the electronics on eBay. I have never had a bike accident where ABS would make a difference, and it's probably a few kilos too!

Can't comment on the flashing ABS light but with your comment about never having needed ABS, there's always a first time!

Not sure I'd ever spec ABS on a new bike but I'll be buggered if I'm going to take off a bike when it's already got it!! Try grabbing a handful in wet and you'll be glad you've still got it.

Flashing ABS panel light usually means weak battery. Give it a charge overnight or ride about 150 miles.

To have ABS or not is an ongoing thread on the VFR forum. As expected there are ppl who prefer to have it and ppl who don't. I'm in the prefer to have it ATM, as I'm not heavy on the brakes in normal use.

I did used to go out and do some high speed practise stops on the VFR (Non ABS) so I knew what was happing and how hard I could brake even to the point of lock up and release. However I'm not sure in the diesal covered wet road when that B*stard decides I'm not there, that I will not just grab a handful and lose it. So I choose ABS on the ST in the hope I never have to use it
