Is my R1100s (04) old technology???

Post by budman200210 »

Might seem like a silly question, but i would like to know,
I keep being told that my R1100s boxercup 04 is made from all the old parts of the R1100GS?
i dont think so as mine is twin sprk for a start!
Was it made from the R1100GS parts only when the R1100s first come out???
so if mine is 04 its 04 technology not R1100GS?
The prob is, my bro has a W reg R1150GS and he keeps saying its newer technology than my 04.
Hope u understand my question!
:)
thanks
Aaron
(want to prove my Knob brother wrong! lol)

I understand that the Mk 2 BCR has the torque arm from the GS (i.e. a shorter one - to raise the rear)

I reckon yer brother has heard about this, and applied it to lots of other parts - giving him a "credible" story.

I reckon lots of bits of the GS came from a Massey Ferguson, myself

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....

whether it helps: the R1100s is supposedly an 1150 in all but capacity; i.e. it's brothers & sisters are the other '1150' bikes (six-speed gearbox, motronic MA2.whotsit etc.) Unfortunately you can't easily swap the barrels (which is everybody's next question!) because an 1150 crankcase has a slightly bigger bore in it to receive the barrel.
Re. 'old technology' remind your brother that, unlike his mud-plugger GS, 'our' bikes are desgined to take advantage of that recent development, called tarmac, ho ho.
'Hinterachsge' translates as 'rear axle'.(Not 'Differential', so f*** off)
