Boxercup 02/03
Looking to purchase an 02/03 boxercup and was just wondering why some have a Mamola sticker and some do not? Also I believe these came with a Laser exhaust and a CAT, is this true?

Re: Boxercup 02/03
All down to over enthusiastic washing by the owners. The mamola signature is just a cut vinyl sticker which can be dislodged by people not taking enough care when washing the bike.live42day wrote:... why some have a Mamola sticker and some do not?
As for the exhaust, I have vague recollections (which no doubt someone will correct) that the early boxercups were sold with the standard exhaust fitted, which was swapped over for the laser at the 600 mile inspection service. I could however be entirely wrong on that one...
Cheers,
Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

All the 'Randy Mamola' BCRs came (from the factory) with the standard exhaust only. The 2004 BCR (Red/White/Blue) came with the Laser cans, but still with the catalytic converterPaul wrote: that the early boxercups were sold with the standard exhaust fitted, which was swapped over for the laser at the 600 mile inspection service.
The Laser fitting at the first service came with the earlier UK only replicas. When BMW UK had normal bikes repainted in the UK colours, they just supplied the Laser silencers (and chip) in a box - to be fitted (as you said) at the first service.

live42day,
There are a few bots different on the Mamola BCR. They were made in single spark form initially (solid carbon cover), then twin spark (carbon cover has a gap in it).
The Mamola ones all have carbon rocker cover covers, carbon mudguard, should have a blue seat cowl, yellow rear shock and all have the spangoly bellypan with all the stickers on. They didnt come with laser cans or a y pice but quite a few may have bits like that fitted. Some owners put carbon indicator pods on too.
Good luck

Boxer Cup
Hi mate,
Nearly all the Boxer Cup models from 2002 / 2003 had the Mamola Sticker on except the 2002 limited edition model, which I have that is in red white and blue.

Shame ... the 52 plate single spark ones are much better

PBBoxer, They 'should' have a blue seat cowl unless you forget to do it up after fixing a puncture and a Nissan Micra runs it over
