I decided to paint my 01 with the 99 paint scheme stripy thing.

Is there anyone here that has one and could measure the width, length and angle of the stripes for me?

I would like to get the pattern as close as possible. Mine will be silver and red. but like this.

your help is greatly appreciated. Of course smart as comments are always welcome as well.

Best bet would be to measure the distance between the upper cyl head bolts on the pic, compare that with the real distance on your bike cyl heads................ then measure the width of the stipes on the pic, and do a bit of Carol Vordeman (no - I don't mean prostituting yourself by advertising "loans" to people that can't afford them  ) - and work it out from there.

The lengths of the stripes can be done the same way. :D

Are you talking about red on silver?

Al :D

(remember to post pics of the new colour scheme)

I was going to use the same shade of silver, and put the red where the yellow is. Thought I would use gold pinstripe between the colors where the silver/yellow bike uses black.

It is going to be a lot of work so I want to get it right.

Morning Bill.

I have the same colour scheme that your looking to replicate. I am not at home at the moment but should be back in the UK by next weekend.

Once I have "decanted some ballast" (after 4 weeks in the desert it shouldnt take all that long) :? I shall be happy to assist you in any way I can in regards to the information you require.

I am actually looking to embark on a similar venture this winter by extending the colour scheme on to my Belly-Pan, so I shall be needing to get the Plumb-line, Set-Square and Dividers out anyhow.

I shall drop you a PM when I get back.

Leasky,

Thanks a bunch. I really want it to turn out nice. Too much time and money involved.

Good choice of paint job by the way. Genuine BMW tests have shown a 6bhp increase for this colur scheme.

I think red with silver stripes would be better looking than the reverse.

I disagree - my 2p. :P

I'd go for overall silver with red stripes intruding. However, I would replace the gold pinstriping with black for better definition. The gold is likely to get lost in the silver.
